Despite all the gloom fears and desperate times that we have faced as a nation and the world at large, music has kept us entertained, encouraged and inspired. Musicians have proven that music is more than a source of livelihood but a powerful vehicle of communication and entertainment. It is thus important for us to #Respect The Hustle as it is a hustle that provides hope and encouragement for many lives, as well as a source of livelihood for musicians and the music industry at large.

We say thank you to every musician for the role they have played and encourage them to continue to uplift the nation through these trying times where hope seems so far-fetched.

Objectives

The key objectives of the Star FM Music Awards are as follows;

The 3rd edition of the Star FM Music Awards seeks to promote an appreciation of music as a business in Zimbabwe. We hope to inspire the musicians, the business community and the fans to embrace an approach to music as a business.

Music, musicians and music industry careers are generally viewed by many as hobbies and playful activities that cannot generate an income or serve a purpose deeper than entertainment. In as much as the business community in Zimbabwe has grown to support and request the services of musicians and artists in the past few years, there remains a need to increase awareness of the value of the industry.

Radio remains one of the biggest platforms for any musician to market their products to the consumers, Star FM occupies the unique position to promote the voice of the industry through the award ceremony. Over the past 8 years, we have nurtured and supported the growth of local artists and catalysed collaborations between the business community and musicians through endorsements, brand ambassadorial contracts and product activations.

The COVID 19 pandemic has also provided an opportunity and increased the urgency for us to recognise the validity and power of this creative economy. Musicians have proven that music is more than a source of livelihood but a powerful vehicle of communication and entertainment. It is thus important for us to #RespectTheHustle as it is a hustle that provides hope and encouragement for many lives, as well as a source of livelihood for musicians and the music industry at large. We say thank you to every musician for the role they have played and encourage them to continue to uplift the nation through these trying times where hope seems so far-fetched.
